I'm delighted to present some of the premier mandolin players on the Island in concert right on the harbor in Port Jefferson. Along with Beaumont Tamchin on guitar and Keenan Zack string bass I'll be joined by Adam Becherer mandolin, fiddle and octave mandolin, Brian Chabza mandolin & 5 string fiddle, Greg Butler & David Voss mandolins. That's a lot of mandolin talent in one show friends! It's a free concert!

The July 6th Saturdays at Six Concert will feature Tom Manuel and his new ensemble Gospel Road. The group brings together a wonderful mix of some of the most impressive performers from the scenes of jazz, bluegrass, country, gospel and western traditions and is very much so inspired by Manuel's childhood growing up in the Pentecostal church. Featured prominently in the band are musicians and local favorites Taylor Ackley, Steve Salerno, Buddy Merriam, Keenan Zach, Matt Godfrey, Darrell Smith, and Laura Landor. Gospel Road presents a wonderfully nostalgic mix of instrumentals adorned with a classic presentation of vocal harmonies with just a touch of storytelling and humor. Tom is President & Founder of The Jazz Loft, Artist in Residence, Stony Brook University, and Director of the Stony Brook University Young Artists Jazz Program.

I am honored to be the featured artist for the Spring Recital at the Staller Center for the Arts. We will be performing 3 of my compositions (Charlie's Lullaby & Charlies Tune- 2 pieces I composed for my Grandson Charlie Dileo) and one written while at Stony Brook University Hospital recovering from heart surgery). The ensemble is lead by the talented Taylor Ackley and is comprised of amazing Stony Brook University Music Graduate students. We'll be performing several of Taylor's songs and a couple Bill Monroe songs as well.
The Deep Roots Ensemble includes Cello, French Horn, Clarinet, Flute, Trombone, twin Fiddles, Strings Bass, mandolin and more. Taylor plays multiple instruments including guitar, 5 string banjo and mandolin.
It is so rewarding to hear my bluegrass mandolin compositions arranged for all these fantastic musicians!

ABOUT BUDDY MERRIAM AND BACK ROADS
International Bluegrass artist, Long Island Hall of Fame LI SOUND Award winning Buddy Merriam and Back Roads have been performing shows for all ages for the past 40 years.
Buddy was struck by lightning in 1976 the day he met Bill Monroe and he took it as a sign to dedicate his life to the mandolin and the bluegrass music he loved. He and his band Back Roads have performed at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, National and International Music Festivals and concerts too many to count.

Conjunto Guantánamo - Ambassadors of Cuban Folklore - have arrived with a freshly interpreted, classic Afro-Cuban sound. Lively percussion, pounding syncopated bass lines, exotic trumpet melodies, uninhibited improvisation and the sultry, dynamic lead vocal of Pepito Gomez positively scorch in a variety of vintage and original compositions. With a soulful sound is layered with authentic Cuban swing and sophisticated influences, their performances sometimes transition into extended experimental Afro-Cuban improvisational jam sessions.
The band inspires thousands of New Yorkers and international fans alike to swivel their hips in the name of Latin passion. Founder Ulises Beato (director, conga, backing vocals) along with José Pepito Gomez (lead vocals, guitar, tres), Carlos Mena (bass, backing vocals), Ittetsu Nasuda (piano), Oscar Oñoz (trumpet) and Mauricio Herrera (bongo, backing vocals) are the celebrated musicians who create this unique sound.
